MIIT holds 2nd Methanol Vehicle Pilot Symposium in Baoji City

MIIT Methanol Pilot SymposiumBaoji City, Shannxi Province, China – on October 9th, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) Energy Conservation Department held its methanol vehicle pilot symposium in Baoji. Around 100 people attended the symposium including MIIT’s officials in the pilot leading group, members of the pilot expert group and related local industry and information technology administrations and pilot operating entities from the pilot city and provinces (Shanghai, Shanxi, Shannxi, Guizhou and Gansu).

During the symposium, the local industry and information technology administrations reported the latest progress, future work in need, work plans for the next stage and recommendations on their respective regions, and pilot data collection experiences in Jin Zhong and Baoji City were also introduced. Closing remarks were given by LI Li, the senior official from MIIT’s Energy Conservation department, assigned to accelerate the implementation of the pilot vehicles and filling stations and continue the work o the vehicle certification, data management and assessment.

This 2nd pilot symposium follows an initial one held in Jin Zhong City last August. Baoji is also the 2nd city to begin to operate methanol vehicles in the pilot, where 15 minivans and 100 taxis are being commercially operated.
